DUNGEONS AND DRAGONS MONSTERS
I have a passion for monsters, having been drawn to the scaly, hairy and feathered since I was a child scribbling in my bedroom.
Naturally, the creatures that populate the tabletop roleplaying game Dungeons and Dragons are a great draw for any monster fan.
Having played a few sessions of D&D and having friends that are into Baldur's Gate III, I knew I wanted to create my own interpretations of some of their iconic beasts.
The documentary 'Eye of the Beholder: The Art of Dungeons and Dragons' kickstarted this ongoing project. Listening to other artists talk passionately about the work they love inspired me to explore the world of D&D monsters.
My main intention with these is to not be too influenced by already existing art and media, creating a body of monster illustrations in my visual style.
Using descriptions from various D&D wikis online, I wanted to capture all the necessary features of each monster, while allowing some liberties to add my flair to each of them.
